‘Evolution’ is a reflection of how my work has evolved from my latest series, ‘On the road’ and ‘Silhouettes’. I enjoyed the universe of the road, the runners, the running. But I also wanted to continue painting figures, silhouettes with no real identity but true souvenirs of a moment lived.
Having run the Berlin Marathon in 2012, I began to appreciate looking at pictures of marathons to participate in or even to watch friends participation. I have since looked at lots of marathon photographs, selecting a background in one or a figure in another, deconstructing my runners and my backgrounds and conceiving in this way my own ‘runners/marathon universe’.
My interest is in the human figures, the movement, the city skylines, colour and harmony…and in the meanwhile if I develop in my viewers the urge to start running , this is also fine with me!
